The popular horror shooter game The Thing has been remastered by Night Dive Studios. Based on the 1982 superhit film of the same name by John Carpenter, the game was first released in 2002.

The events of The Thing are based on an alien evil force that can take over human bodies. The unknown stranger is named The Thing. It is difficult to tell which character is a friend and which is a humanoid alien. The main character of the third-person shooter genre game is Captain J.F. Blake.

He and his US Special Forces squad have arrived at Outpost 31 in Antarctica. Their goal is to uncover who is responsible for the mysterious deaths of all the scientists at the research facility. As soon as they arrive at the ice-covered research facility, they discover that a multi-faceted alien has not only killed each scientist, but has also taken their form and deceived others. Now the gamer has only one task, to find out where the alien originated and defeat it.

The big challenge before them is that the alien may be among the squad. Everyone must be equally suspected. The story will progress through the tense gameplay built around distrust and suspicion within the team.

Night Dive Studios has not made major changes to the game's graphics. Rather, they have focused on fixing the problems that were present in the 2002 game.

In addition to the action in the gameplay, there are security cameras and PC hacking, maintaining relationships with other squad members, and the responsibility of keeping the squad's weapons in order. There are several activities to keep everyone's trust in order, such as giving them medicine to keep them calm, to showing them your own blood to prove that the captain himself did not fall into the clutches of the alien. In other words, The Thing is not a fast-paced action game. For those who are fans of modern horror games, such as Dead Space or Alien Isolation, the game will seem more old-fashioned. The new remake has more in common with the System Shock or Fear series. It is quite difficult to enjoy the story and action of the game under the pressure of keeping a bunch of stats in order.
